ESCA 1 COMPLETION!  The LRA recently completed the removal, cleaning, and/or disposal of property suspected to be contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) within the former Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP).  An estimated 4,973 tons of PCB was removed from the buildings, decontaminated and staged for sampling and disposal based on the on-site scales.  A total of 4,083 tons have been shipped off-site for landfill disposal; remaining equipment will be avalable for lease or sale. New Locomotive for Sierra Northern Railway! After 9 months of construction, Sierra Northern Railway is ready to commission its newly converted eco-friendly, self-assembled, railroad locomotive which is being used on trains to Riverbank and into the Riverbank Industrial Complex. This is the 2nd eco-friendly renovation Sierra Northern has made to its fleet. They plan to continue working with the San Joaquin Valley Air District to procure additional funding to convert more locomotives with the long-term goal of replacing the entire Sierra Northern fleet with eco-friendly locomotives.

June 5, 2014 - Riverbank Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) to receive a Base Redevelopment Excellence Award in Washington D.C. The Association of Defense Communities (ADC) will be formally recognizing the Riverbank LRA at the 2nd Annual Defense Community Awards Congressional Breakfast June 5 as part of the Defense Communities National Summit. May 28, 2014 - Donaldson Company, Inc. is awarded the Chairman's Cup!
The Riverbank division of Donalson Company, Inc. has won the prestigious Chairman's Cup which is awarded quarterly to one of 17 North American Donaldson plants that achieve the highest cumulative score on key performance metrics including employee safety, product quality, inventory, and customer delivery.  Congratulations to David Sperle the Riverbank Plant Manager and the whole Riverbank team!

November 14, 2013 - The Riverbank LRA in conjunction with consultants have developed and circulated a Specific Plan to guide development of a former Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant, on the corner of Claus and Claribel Roads. In addition, a Draft EIR was prepared and circulated. Responses to that EIR were received and based on those comments, a Final EIR has been prepared. The documents can be viewed on this website in Services / Documents.

October 21, 2013 - Remediation and removal of Army surplus property has begun. Weston Solutions and San Joaquin Engineering Solutions are now removing and disposing small contaminated equipment from Buildings 46, 47 and 48; and in Production lines 3 and 4. Oil removal will occur in Lines 1, 6 and 8 with additional crane work to be done in line 8. A few photos can be viewed in Events Photo Gallery.

October 1, 2013 - Eight Alternative-Fuel Vehicles Arrive in Riverbank
San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District awarded the City of Riverbank with a grant for (8) electric vehicles for the city's police force and local government departments. The new clean energy vehicles are being made possible through the District's Public Benefit Grants Program, New Alternative-Fuel Vehicle Purchase Component. April 1, 2013 - "Riverbank Goes Green" article written by LRA Intern, Courtney Jespersen, was published in the Central Valley Business Journal promoting the green aspect of the Riverbank Industrial Complex site!  Riverbank's Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) has been hard at work turning the Riverbank Industrial Complex (RIC) into a "green" facility. The Complex formerly known as the Riverbank Army Ammunitions Plant, is turning over a new leaf, so to speak. It has gone from manufacturing munitions for the Army, to production of items made from recycled materials!

Riverbank, CA – The City of Riverbank Local Redevelopment Authority announces the launch of two newly designed Web sites, both created to support the redevelopment and reuse of the former Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant. The first site, www.riverbanklra.org, is designed to share the progress of the redevelopment of the closed military facility and to inform and engage the visitor in a transparent and efficient manner in the transfer process. The second site, www.riverbankindustrialcomplex.com, was developed to market the property to prospective tenants and as a conduit for existing tenants to interact with facility management and operations staff.

February 28, 2011 - Riverbank Seeks New Name for Redeveloped FacilityThe Riverbank Local Redevelopment Authority is looking for community help in coming up with a new name to represent the new facility and its future. A new name will allow the former military industrial park to reflect the major changes and new uses. The name change is also part of a branding strategy for the former Ammunition Plant.
